Fauxworks owners Douglas and Eileen Barber recognize the profound effect that spaces have upon the way we live and work. To that end, Fauxworks strives to create the personalized atmosphere you desire in your home or office.
We believe the client must be involved in each stage of the process so that the results are a seamless match to your tastes and desires. Our process begins with a free color consultation, working from our vast array of sample boards. Your own, custom sample board is then created especially for your space, so that your personal environment is reflected in the artwork we create on your walls or furniture.
Our staff are continuously educated in the latest techniques for achieving Old World and contemporary effects and the newest products on the market. This up-to-date training provides you with a wide spectrum of creative possibilities.
We truly love this work that becomes an intimate part of your daily life – and we feel blessed to beautify your rooms.
Douglas Barber Bio:
Douglas has been involved in the painting trade since the early 1970s, and was painting and plastering his family’s commercial properties in Santa Fe by the time he was 12 years old. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Management Science from UC-Santa Barbara in 1984, Douglas managed El Prado Art Gallery in Sante Fe New Mexico, which expanded his exposure to the art world. In 1988, Douglas earned an MBA from CU-Boulder and at this time began his own general contracting business with a focus on remodels. It was during one of these projects in 1990 that a client requested some rag roll. With a quick “Sure, I can do that for you,” Douglas’ faux finish career began. Since then, he has attended workshops and classes in Arizona, Colorado, and California to further refine his craftsmanship and expand the variety of beautiful finishes offered by Fauxworks Professional Painting. His faux finish education includes intensive coursework at The Faux Finish Institute, Fauxmasters Academy, Pima Community College and The School of Italian Plasters. In addition, he has taught classes in Tucson, Arizona at Western Paint Distributors using the Faux Effects line of products.
Douglas is committed to delivering the beautiful and unique finishes that each Fauxworks client envisions, and to exceed their expectations. He diligently guides each project through a process that is meticulous, tidy, and timely. Douglas personally trains every member of the Fauxworks team in order to bring the highest talent to every project.
Eileen Barber Bio:
Upon earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing from Marquette University, Eileen began her sales career in Chicago where she sharpened her sales and marketing skills by calling on many fortune 500 companies. She spent 15 years in the commercial printing industry, selling for 10 years in Chicago and Denver and acting as a project manager for printed design work at the University of Colorado at Boulder. This is where her love for color and the intricacies of color management began. Eileen enrolled in classes for oil painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and spent much of her free time painting while in Chicago. In early 2003, Eileen and Douglas relocated to Tucson, Arizona with their faux painting business. Since their move, Eileen has continued to take classes in stenciling from Royal Design Studio, and faux painting from Pima Community College. Most recently, Eileen attended classes from Santa Theresa Tile Works and has started her own tile art business to compliment their faux business.
